DEF: Freddie Mercury “I Was Born to Love You”

Zanzibar-born singer Freddie Mercury is, of course, best known as the front man for the band Queen. He did, though, hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice as a solo artist, with both of those appearances occurring in the mid-1980s. On this date in 1985, the second of Mercury’s two charting solo singles, “I Was Born to Love You,” climbed to a peak position of number 76.
