DEF: George Harrison “All Those Years Ago”
In the early 1970s, just after the Beatles broke up, George Harrison hit the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with three singles. After eight years without another Top 10 hit, Harrison returned to the Top 10 in 1981 with the song “All Those Years Ago,” which reflects back on the Beatles years and which Harrison dedicated to his Beatles band mate John Lennon, who was murdered the previous December. The other living Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, also appeared on the single.
On this date in 1981, “All Those Years Ago” hit its peak position of number 2, where it would spend three weeks. In keeping with the 50th anniversary of Beatlemania this year, “All Those Years Ago” is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
