DEF: John Lennon “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)”

Today marks the 40th birthday of Sean Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. At the same time, today would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday. A song that works well for commemorating those two birthdays is “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy),” which John wrote for Sean. “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” appeared on John and Yoko’s 1980 album Double Fantasy, which was the last album John released before his murder in December of that year. While “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” was released as a single in 1981, it did not reach Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. Today, though, it’s the Daily Eighties Flashback.
