DEF: Kenny Rogers “Lady”
Kenny Rogers first appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in 1968, and heading into the 1980s, he had amassed 13 Top 40 hits. However, it wasn’t until Rogers’ third Top 10 and fourth Top 20 hit of 1980 that he topped the Hot 100 the first time in his career. Exactly 35 years ago, that single — “Lady,” which was written by Lionel Richie — rose to number one, where it would spend six weeks. To commemorate that anniversary, “Lady” by Kenny Rogers is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
