DEF: Lee Greenwood “I.O.U.”
Los Angeles-born musician Lee Greenwood is best known for his song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” which hit the Top 10 on the country chart in the mid-1980s and then reached the Top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in the fall of 2001. Other than that appearance in 2001, Greenwood’s crossover to the pop chart consisted of two appearances on the Hot 100 in 1983. On this date that year, the first and more successful of those two songs, “I.O.U.,” climbed to a peak position of number 53. “I.O.U.” by Lee Greenwood is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
