After enjoying success with the Commodores in the 1970s, Alabama-born musician Lionel Richie embarked on a solo career in the 1980s that made him one of the most successful acts of the decade. The first 13 charting singles of his solo career all hit the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.
