DEF: Michael Jackson “Rock With You”

By most accounts, Michael Jackson was the most successful popular music artist of the 1980s, scoring 17 Top 10 hits, including 8 number one singles, on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart during the decade. Fittingly, then, Jackson was among the first artists to hit number one in the 1980s. Just three weeks into the decade, exactly 35 years ago yesterday, Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” reached number one, where it would stay for four weeks.
