DEF: R.E.M. “The One I Love”
Athens, Georgia-based band R.E.M. scored four Top 10 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart during their career, the biggest of which was “Losing My Religion,” which peaked at number 4 in 1991. The band’s first Top 10 hit, “The One I Love,” peaked at number 9, and on this date in 1987, it hit that peak position, where it would spend one week.
R.E.M’s first Top 10 hit is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
