Dayton, Ohio-born musician Steve Arrington hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart a few times in the late 1970s and early 1980s with the band Slave, most notably with their only Top 40 hit, “Slide,” which peaked at number 32 in 1977. After leaving Slave, Arrington appeared once on the Hot 100, with his song “Dancin’ In the Key Of Life.” On this date in 1985, “Dancin’ In The Key Of Life” hit its peak position of number 68, where it would spend two weeks.
Arrington’s only solo Hot 100 single is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
