New York-based band Stray Cats appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart five times, all between 1982 and 1984. Four of those five appearances turned into Top 40 hits, with three of those songs reaching the Top 10. Among all of those singles, the band’s biggest hit was “Stray Cat Strut,” which on this date in 1983 climbed to a peak position of number 3, where it would spend three weeks.
