New Jersey-based group Sugarhill Gang is best known for their Top 40 hit “Rapper’s Delight,” though they also hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart two more times. Their third and final Hot 100 appearance came with “Apache,” which demonstrates some of the more awkward ways that popular music has appropriated Native American imagery.
