The Boomtown Rats‘ only appearance on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart came with the song “I Don’t Like Mondays,” which in some circles has become a 1980s staple, especially in the U.K., where it reached number 4. In the United States, though, the song didn’t reach the Top 40, as exactly 40 years ago, “I Don’t Like Mondays” climbed to a peak position of number 73.
