DEF: The Dirt Band “An American Dream”
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, California-based band The Nitty Gritty Band changed its name to just The Dirt Band. As The Dirt Band, they made four appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with two of the songs reaching the Top 40. The biggest hit of the quartet was “An American Dream,” which also featured vocals from Linda Ronstadt. On this date in 1980, “An American Dream” climbed to a peak position of number 13. Today, “An American Dream” by The Dirt Band is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
