DEF: The Doors “Gloria”

More than a decade after the death of frontman Jim Morrison, Elektra records released a single of the Doors playing the Van Morrison/Them song “Gloria” as a sound check in 1969. When the single reached Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in late 1983, it also marked the first Doors song to chart in over a decade.

On this date in 1984, the Doors’ version of “Gloria” hit its peak position of number 71, where it would spend one week. Today, it’s the Daily Eighties Flashback.
