DEF: The Everly Brothers “On The Wings Of A Nightingale”
Tennessee-based duo The Everly Brothers made a name for themselves in pop music during the late 1950s and early 1960s, when they hit the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart 15 times. The twosome did, though, reach the Hot 100 once during the 1980s, with what was their last chart appearance. On this date in 1984, their single “On The Wings Of A Nightingale,” which was written by Paul McCartney, climbed to a peak position of number 50, where it would spend one week. Today, the Everly Brothers’ last charting single is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
