DEF: The Four Tops “When She Was My Girl”
Detroit-based group The Four Tops hit the Top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart 17 times between 1964 and 1973, mostly as a Motown Records act. After that, though, the group garnered just one more Top 20 hit, and it came more than eight years later. On this date in 1981, the Four Tops’ last Top 20 single, “When She Was My Girl,” hit a peak position of number 11, where it would spend two weeks.
