DEF: The Hollies “Stop In The Name Of Love”
In the 1960s and 1970s Manchester, England-based band The Hollies reached the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart 11 times, most successfully with “Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress),” which spent two weeks at number 2 in 1972. The band returned the Top 40 for a twelfth time with their only charting single of the 1980s. On this date in 1983, that single — “Stop In The Name Of Love,” a remake of the Supremes’ chart-topping hit from 1965 — climbed to a peak position of number 29, where it would spend one week.
