DEF: The Jets “Rocket 2 U”
Though Minneapolis-based group The Jets garnered the two biggest hits of their career from their 1985 self-titled debut album, in terms of number of hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, their next album, Magic, was the group’s most successful. Five singles from Magic appeared on the chart, with four of them reaching the Top 20 and three making the Top 10. On this date in 1988, the second of that group of singles, “Rocket 2 U,” climbed to a peak position of number 6, where it would spend two weeks. Today, “Rocket 2 U” is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
