DEF: The Reddings “Remote Control”
Georgia-based band The Reddings, which consisted of Otis Redding’s sons Dexter and Otis III along with their cousin Mark Lockett, made two appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, both in the early 1980s. On this date in 1980, the first of those two songs, “Remote Control,” climbed to a peak position of number 89. Today, “Remote Control” is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
The refrain in this song sounds like the 1988 hit by Bobby Brown “My Prerogative”.
