Gainesville, Florida-based band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice with singles from their 1982 album Long After Dark. On this date in 1983, the first of those two hits — “You Got Lucky” — became the album’s only Top 20 hit, as it rose to its peak position of number 20, where it would spend three weeks.
