DEF: Tommy James “Three Times in Love”

Between 1966 and 1971, Dayton, Ohio-born musician Tommy James hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart sixteen times, with fourteen of those songs coming with his band, the Shondells. James then went nearly a decade before reaching the Top 40 again one additional time. On this date in 1980, that fifteenth Top 40 hit, “Three Times in Love,” climbed to a peak position of number 19.
