DEF: U2 “Desire”

Last week, host of The Tonight Show Jimmy Fallon performed an impression of U2 lead singer Bono alongside the show’s band, the Roots. Fallon and the Roots performed the song “Desire” to fill in when U2 had to cancel a week of scheduled appearances because Bono was injured in a bicycle accident. Fallon’s timing with his choice of song was excellent because November marks the month in which “Desire” reached the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.

On this date in 1988, “Desire” hit its peak position of number 3, where it would spend one week. Today, it’s the Daily Eighties Flashback.
