Deon Estus
In the 1980s Detroit-born musician Deon Estus built a career as a bassist backing up Wham! and George Michael.  Building off Michael’s phenomenal success in 1988, Estus released his own album titled Spell in 1989. The album spawned one hit song, “Heaven Help Me,” which featured George Michael on backing vocals.  Exactly 25 years ago, “Heaven Help Me” peaked at number 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.
Though Estus released the title track of the album as a single as well, it didn’t make it to the Hot 100, making “Heaven Help Me” his only charting single and qualifying Estus as a one hit wonder
