Ginger Baker 1939-2019

News is circulating that Ginger Baker, one of the most prolific and infuential drummers in rock ‘n’ roll history, passed away today at the age of 80. Baker’s career includes a host of solo albums in addition to work with numerous bands, most famously Blind Faith and Cream.

In honor of Baker, what’s your most prominent memory featuring his work, including work with any of the bands he played for. Personally, the memory that stands out the most is what introduced me to the band. As a kid, I remember seeing television commercials for anthologies of 1960s hits. The commercials features short snipets of some of the songs that appeared on the albums, and for one of these anthologies, they played a couple lines from Cream’s “White Room.”
