Girl You Know It’s True
In 1990, Milli Vanilli was one of pop music’s biggest scandals as word came out that the group’s two “singers,” Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan, were actually not the singers who recorded the group’s songs.  The Grammy Award for Best New Artist that Milli Vanilli had won in February of 1990 was rescinded in November, and the group became more infamous for the ruse than for their string of hit records. Perhaps fittingly, then, exactly 25 years ago, it was the week ending April 1 — April Fool’s Day — that Milli Vanilli peaked at number 2 with their first single, “Girl You Know It’s True.”
