In honor of the upcoming release of the new Godzilla movie, Tunesmate is dropping some music knowledge on a song with the same title. Blue Oyster Cult’s 1977 original song called “Godzilla” is a mainstay on classic rock radio. However did you know that Kurt Cobain admitted in a Rolling Stone interview back in 1991 that the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was inspired by listening to the song “Godzilla”? He said he changed and sped up the riff in Godzilla to get the right sound for his song. Can you hear the similarities?
