Guess What? Godzilla Smells Like Teen Spirit

Did you know that Kurt Cobain was inspired by Blue Oyster Cult’s hit “Godzilla” to write “Smells Like Teen Spirit”? In a documentary, he said one night he heard “Godzilla” on the radio and started playing along with it. Then he speed it up the guitar riff and came up with “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Kurt also said in an interview that he attributes the main guitar riff to Boston’s “More Than A Feeling”. No matter how you slice it, you can hear the similarities in these two tracks.
