Guess What? Pearl Jam’s Biggest Hit Is A Cover Song!
Guess What? Pearl Jam scored a top ten hit with their cover of “Last Kiss”. The song was originally created by Wayne Cochran in 1961 but never charted. Then J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers hit #2 with their cover a few years later in 1964. Interestingly enough, Pearl Jam’s version of “Last Kiss” in 1999 also soared to #2 on the US Billboard Chart. The tune was part of the charity album No Boundaries: A Benefit for the Kosovar Refugees and it would later appear on their 2003 rarities album Lost Dogs. The tune topped the charts for seven weeks in Australia and also did the same in Iceland for six weeks. It makes this song the band’s highest-charting single to this day.
