Guess What? ‘We Didn’t Start Fire” Was A Response Song
Guess What? Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire” started off as a response to Sean Lennon to summarize the fact that baby boomers lived through a lot of turmoil too! The Piano Man started listing off the series of events he lived through, and it turned into a song. The #1 tune coincidently lined up to summarize forty years of events leading up to 1989 and the fall of The Berlin Wall. Billy recently started picking on the song saying that it’s such a simple melody, it sounds silly to play without a band since he actually played guitar on the track.
