Happy 50th Birthday to Eddie Murphy
If you were around in the 1980s, you likely associate Eddie Murphy with Saturday Night Live and with films like Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hrs., and Coming to America. Younger generations more likely associate him with The Nutty Professor, Dr. Doolittle, and of course, the voice of Donkey in Shrek. Murphy also garnered an academy award nomination for best supporting actor a few years ago for his work in Dreamgirls. His singing performances in Dreamgirls weren’t Murphy’s first foray into the world of music, though. In the mid- to late 1980s, Murphy also tried his hand at a pop music career. That attempt scored Murphy two top 40 hits: 1989’s “Put Your Mouth on Me,” which went to number 27, and his big hit, “Party All the Time,” which went to number 2 in 1985.
