It Happened 50 Years Ago: Arthur Conley “Funky Street”
Atlanta-born singer Arthur Conley hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart three times, most successfully with “Sweet Soul Music,” which reached number 2 in 1967. A little more than a year later — and exactly 50 years ago — Conley’s third and final Top 40 hit, “Funky Street” climbed to a peak position of number 14.
