It Happened 50 Years Ago: Herman’s Hermits “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter”

As part of the British Invasion period following the success of the Beatles, Manchester, England-based band Herman’s Hermits scored 11 Top 10 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with all 11 charting between 1965 and 1967. The biggest of those hits came with their third Top 10 hit — and third of nine consecutive Top 10 singles — “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter.” Exactly 50 years ago, in just its third week on the chart, “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter” climbed into the number one spot, where it would stay for three weeks.
