New York City-born musician Johnny Rivers has made twenty-nine appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with seventeen of those songs hitting the Top 40 and nine reaching the Top 10. Amid all of that success, Rivers’ biggest hit is his only number one hit, “Poor Side of Town,” which exactly 50 years ago, climbed into the top spot for a one-week reign.
