It Happened 50 Years Ago: Lorne Greene “Ringo”
Ontario, Canada native Lorne Greene is most remembered for his prominent roles on the television shows Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica. However, Greene also released a series of albums of music throughout the 1960s, including The Man, which appeared in 1965. The Man spawned the only two singles to chart on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart during Greene’s career. The album’s title track peaked at number 72 in early 1965, but before that, the previous single, “Ringo,” did quite a lot better. Exactly 50 years ago, Lorne Greene’s “Ringo” hit number one for a one-week stay.
