It Happened 50 Years Ago: Paul Mauriat and His Orchestra “Love Is Blue”
French conductor Paul Mauriat made three appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, all in the late 1960s. Only the first of those hits reached the Top 40, and exactly 50 years ago, that single, an instrumental version of the song “Love Is Blue” that was originally recorded by Greek singer Vicky, climbed to number one for a five-week reign.
