Jacksonville, Florida-born musician Scott McKenzie made the Top 40 with both songs he placed on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. By far the bigger hit of the two was his first hit and his only Top 10 hit, “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair),” which exactly 50 years ago was in its third week of a four-week run at a peak position of number 4.
