The Monkees have made twenty-one appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with twelve of those songs, including the first eleven, making the Top 40 and six reaching the Top 10. Three of those songs climbed all the way to number one, and it started with their very first charting song, “Last Train to Clarksville,” which exactly 50 years ago rose to number one for a one-week reign.
