It Happened 50 Years Ago: The Rolling Stones “Paint It, Black”
The Rolling Stones hit number one for the first two times in their career in 1965, as back-to-back singles “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and “Get Off of My Cloud” both topped Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. In 1966, the band scored their third number one, this time with “Paint It, Black.” Exactly 50 years ago, “Paint It, Black” ascended to the top of the chart for a two-week reign.
