It’s Already Been Five Years: Gotye featuring Kimbra “Somebody That I Used to Know”

To date, Bruges, Belgium-born musician Gotye has made two appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. The second of those appearances was “Eyes Wide Open” with New Zealand-born singer Kimbra, which spent just one week on the chart and peaked at number 96. The first appearance produced an almost completely opposite experience. Exactly five years ago, that song — the international smash “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which also featured Kimbra — climbed to number one, where it would spend eight weeks.
