Kool & The Gang in the Top 10
Between 1974 and 1987, New Jersey-based band Kool & The Gang hit the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart 12 times, the pinnacle of which was spending two weeks at number 1 in 1981 with “Celebration.” Their run of Top 10 singles started with “Jungle Boogie,” and exactly 40 years ago, “Jungle Boogie” hit its peak position of number 4, where it would spend one week.
