Maxi Priest
In October 1990, British-born artist Maxi Priest hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for one week with his single “Close To You.” It was the biggest hit of Priest’s career.  Priest would also hit the top 10 a little more than a year later with the duet “Set The Night To Music,” which also featured Roberta Flack and which peaked at number 6.
Priest’s first top 40 hit, though, was a remake of Cat Stevens’ “Wild World.” Priest’s version of the song peaked at number 25 exactly 25 years ago.
