Meredith Brooks
Exactly 15 years ago today, Meredith Brooks peaked at number two on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with the biggest hit of her career. “Bitch” would spend four weeks in the number two slot, and it would be Brooks’ only song to reach the top 40. Her only other single to hit the Hot 100 was “What Would Happen,” which peaked at number 46 in 1998.
Though Brooks has been performing and releasing music since the early 1980s, her album Blurring the Edges in 1997, which featured both “Bitch” and “What Would Happen,” marked her major label debut. In the time since, she has released five more albums, including her most recent, If I Could Be…, which came out in 2007. You can check out more about Brooks on her official website.
In the meantime, check out the video for “Bitch” above and please do your part to convince people to stop saying that Alanis Morissette sang this song.
