Metallica In The Top 40
Exactly 25 years ago, Los Angeles-based hard rock band Metallica peaked at number 35 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with “One,” the third single from their … And Justice For All album.  “One” marked the first time that Metallica charted on the Hot 100 and, thus, it was also the band’s first Top 40 hit.  The song was also significant in the band’s history because it was the first song for which Metallica made a music video.
Metallica built off that Top 40 success to hit the Top 40 with their next three singles — the first three singles from their next album, Metallica, which was released in 1991. A few years later, in 1996, Metallica hit the Top 10 for the first and only time, as “Until It Sleeps” peaked at number 10.
In all, Metallica has had seven Top 40 hits in their career, the most recent of which was “The Day That Never Comes” in 2008.
