Modest Mouse’s Song To Sample

In 2004, Modest Mouse had a modern rock hit with “Float On”. The riff from the song is catchy and just sticks in your head. Furthermore, the bouncy lyrics just gleam with positivity.

In the last year, I have heard two songs that are pay tribute to this almost 10 year old song. Lupe Fiasco’s “Show Goes On” blatantly samples the riff, while Pink’s Blow Me a Kiss toys with a similar musical interlude. Who knew that Modest Mouse’s “Float On” would be the song to sample?
