Musical Mugshots

News is circulating today about the arrest of pop star Justin Bieber, who has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.  Interestingly, Bieber looks pretty happy in his mug shot, perhaps because he was enjoying this or because — just like in Kate McKinnon’s depiction of him last weekend on Saturday Night Live, Bieber was, if you’ll pardon the pun, mugging for the camera.

Of course, Bieber is far from the first popular musician to be arrested, and it’s interesting to consider how musicians may perform their identities through their mug shots.  A couple of years ago, The San Francisco Chronicle collected 45 different musician mug shots, and their collection is worth looking through.  Which ones look the most interesting to you?
