One Sweet Day
15 years ago today must have been one sweet day for Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. Their joint-effort single “One Sweet Day” ascended to number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. Each act had experienced going to number 1 before (in Carey’s case many, many times), so topping the chart  in and of itself might at this point have not seemed particularly amazing (though, I’m sure it was still exciting). The sweeter day came three and a half months later, when the song broke the record for most weeks at number 1. In all, it would spend 16 weeks at the top of the Hot 100 chart–a record that still stands today.
