Open House Party
Last week, I mentioned the radio show Open House Party when discussing the resurgence of the Four Seasons’ “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night” in the mid-1990s. While Open House Party isn’t as pervasive as it was in the late 1980s through the mid 1990s, the show, started by and featuring New England-based DJ John Garabedian, is still going, both as a syndicated weekend evening program on some radio stations throughout the country and online at the Open House Party website.
When I remember listening to Open House Party in high school in the late 1980s, my most vivid memory is of the end of the show, when people would say goodnight over the music bed from the song above–the 1988 Top 10 hit “Two Occasions” by the Deele.
