Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone
The Temptations scored four number one hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart during their illustrious career. The first was “My Girl,” which spent one week at the top in 1965. They followed with “I Can’t Get Next To You” in 1969 and “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” in 1971. Exactly 40 years ago, the Detroit-based group landed what would be the final number one of their career, as “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” climbed into the number one position for a one-week stay.
