Penny Marshall 1943-2018

As you may have already heard, Penny Marshall passed away yesterday at the age of 75. Marshall’s career included numerous acting roles on television and in film from the 1960s to the 2010s as well as directing films such as Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own. She is, though, most remembered as Laverne from the television show Laverne & Shirley, which routinely topped the Nielsen ratings during its run from 1976 to 1983.

One memorable aspect of the show was its theme song, “Making Our Dreams Come True.” Written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, the song was recorded by Cyndi Grecco and hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in the summer of 1976.
