Pete Seeger 1919-2014

News is travelling around today that Pete Seeger passed away yesterday at the age of 94.  Seeger is one of the most significant figures in the development of folk music, rock music, and the connection of music with social activism in the 20th century, and that influence cannot be overstated.  Anyone who studies popular music ought to familiarize themselves at least somewhat with who Seeger was, what he did, and what he stood for.

Seeger’s death comes less than a year after the death of his wife, Toshi, whose activism complemented Pete’s work during their nearly 70 years of marriage.
